Wealden Counselling Practice provides therapy services for children, teenagers and young people across East Sussex.
5-11 YEAR OLDS - A play based therapy approach is used with the therapist working creatively to provide a safe and boundaried space where children can express themselves through their natural language of play; gently helping them to attach language to their experiences in order to better understand their feelings, behaviour and/or life events. This is because in supporting a child to make sense of their experiences they can develop the resilience and emotional literacy which supports their development through life. Read More
12-21 YEAR OLDS – For older children a counselling approach is used which involves sitting down with a professional and talking about or creatively exploring what’s going on for you. The counsellor’s job is to help clients to explore their experiences in order to gain a better understanding of emotions and behaviour. This is because in expressing what's going on for us we can gain a sense of release and relief from symptoms. Also, having a better understanding of ourselves and our reactions can help to build self-esteem and better coping strategies. Read More
